I've been teaching since the 2004-2005 school year. I have been blessed to teach in a variety of areas and a multitude of subjects. I have taught AP Government, Government, Economics, U.S. History, World History, Geography, Spanish 1, 2, 3 and AVID. I have also had the honor of serving as AVID Coordinator at a few different schools so I incorporate a lot of AVID strategies and tools into all of my courses. 

 

Students need to LEARN to do well in this class. They can't just go through the motions, do their work and get an A unless they really LEARN the material and can apply it to critical thinking exam questions. We do a lot of real world application in this class and it is super relevant. Students who find themselves struggling are encouraged to reach out, come to advisement, stop by at lunch, get extra help. I highly suggest students go above and beyond what is assigned to learn. Read your textbook, go to the various resources I post, view youtube videos on the content, take ownership of YOUR learning. Don't just do the work to get credit. Do it to really learn, process and absorb it.
